Ray Cole
At one time or another, Ray Cole has been a multimedia producer, a record company executive, a computer programmer, an educator, and a composer. Active for many years with The Film Music Society, he was that organization's first web designer and Webmaster. As co-owner and managing partner of the independent, experimental music label, Old King Cole Productions, he has worked with many of the best musicians in the San Diego area, including percussionist Steven Schick, pianist Mary Barranger, guitarists George Svoboda and Derek Keller, and saxophonist James Romeo, among others.
His liner notes for new-music CDs have appeared in recordings from Master Musicians Collective and Old King Cole Productions. His feature articles on a variety of home entertainment and popular culture topics have been published on the GreenCine movie rental service's web site, where he is also a frequent contributor to the online discussion forums.
As a multimedia producer he has edited audio and video for online training courses at NCR Corporation, and for web and CD-ROM delivery at AirFiber, Inc. He has worked the MiniMusic booth with MiniMusic founder Chad Mealey at the winter NAMM industry trade show in Los Angeles every year since 2000.
As a composer, he studied privately with San Diego composer Igor Korneitchouk. His homage to Conlon Nancarrow, "Canon for Conlon" for computer-driven piano, was selected by the Stuart Commission to be broadcast on the Terry Allen "Music Tree", part of the Stuart Collection of modern art installed on the campus of the University of California, San Diego. Mr. Cole graduated from the University of California, San Diego, in 1989 with a degree in Computer Science. He brings a strong technical background to his art.
