MAX PINCHARD
Max Pinchard was born in Le Havre in 1928 and has followed an extremely varied career as composer, teacher, director of music schools, musical critic, conductor and author.
His prolific musical output includes 4 symphonies; 3 symphonic movements; 9 concertos for violin, viola, cello, flutes, clarinet, harpsichord, organ, and piano; choral pieces; 7 cantatas on sacred and secular texts; 4 oratorios for soloists, choir, and orchestra; and numerous works for chamber ensembles.
A highly independent musician, Max Pinchard has followed his own personal musical style throughout his career staying faithful to his interest in human communication as his primary conception of art. For him the lyrical melodic line is a natural respiration, a vitale element in his music. Along the lines of the Medieval singers, he emphasizes that first a composer needs to write a melody, the most beautiful melody possible. Throughout the numerous changes in musical styles of the 20th Century Max Pinchard has remained faithful to this philosophy and has developed an intensely personal style which is always original and fresh. This courage to remain individual with integrity has impressed many music critics and reviewers. His music has been widely performed on international stages.
The warm musical style of Max Pinchard can be summed up in these four words: humanist, independant, generous and communicative.
